Sculpture Forest Re-Imagined - 2018

Dance Happens Here Haliburton (DH3) was thrilled to host the dance trio, Throwdown Collective as artists in residence at the Haliburton Sculpture Forest in Glebe Park from July 20 through August 7, 2018.

The three members of Throwdown Collective, Mairéad Filgate, Brodie Stevenson and Zhenya Cerneacov, were excited to return to Haliburton where they had performed individually and as the Throwdown Collective numerous times at Dusk Dances Haliburton.

The group hosted various workshops to help shape their creative process over the residency.  During the 3 week artist residency, the group connected with community members in workshops, tours, classes, and creative sessions, leading to a culminating presentation.

They created an hour and a half artistic experience that led audiences of 100+ people, of all ages, through the Sculpture Forest with a series of interconnected dance and movement vignettes which often interacted with sculptures in unexpected ways. A number of local artist were involved in the production: cellist/violinist Bethany Houghton, blues/rock Dark is Our Danger, coronet player High Taylor and youth dancers from Heritage Ballet
